Transfer Rumour Axel Witsel

I would suggest that he is not being naïve in the slightest. Regardless of how minted we think we now are there still has to be a limit otherwise these sodding agents will think they can bend us over and dry bum us every time.

For me - good news to hear that we wont allow that to happen.

Whilst European footy is the perceived target for many players and we cant offer that yet, who is to say that there isn't that little something in the right players mind to make them think I want to get there off my own back, off my own efforts and not someone else's last year - you never know!

Selling the project I think is the key phrase for that sort of approach - if you are up for it then great - if not then jog on and we will find someone that is.

The problem is you don't attract the top players like Mata and Witsel without either being a CL club or one willing to spend big amounts of money, otherwise you would see much more equality in the leagues with midtable sides signing CL quality players which rarely happens.

We are at a crossroads where we either spend big on top players like Mata, Schneiderlin, Koulibaly etc or be careful with our money and go for the £8-15 million bracket of players like your Mirallas's, your Grosicki's, Bojan''s etc. With the likes of Stoke. For me the echo article is saying Koeman wants the former but trying to use the latter approach.

If we do that, what chances is there of a top 4 spot and CL though?

Fair enough - we are at a X roads where yes we have to spend big and no doubt we will reports on Roms new deal are supposedly double bubble so we cant argue at that if its true- but there will still be a limit to just how big we can go just yet.

Maybe it is a clever little bit of messaging to emanate from the club to just let a few people know not to take the Pee that there are limits and we will gladly move on - or maybe its just the echo spouting tripe because they haven't got a clue.
