Bad News: Liverpool might start being good again...

Good manager - yes.
Miracle worker - not so much.
The rats will still jump from the sinking ship and replacing them, with players capable of competing instantly for top four, will be nigh on impossible with their finacial constraints. Mascherano is looking to be the first out the door, Torres and Gerrard could easily follow and Carra-laa is a spent force. That leaves them with one world class performer and he's in goal. Swerve it Roy, you're better off at Fulham!

You think mate?

Fulham finished last season on 46 points, 5 or so places below the season before.

A nice bloke who'll be out of his depth, a man who'll likely be overwhelmed by his position, gracious even - a yes man for the owners.

Overrated on the back of a half decent spell at Fulham. Can anyone actually remember his days at Blackburn?... He spent an absolute fortune on the likes of Nathan Blake and Christian Dailly.

Saved me typing there! (y)

Yeah, can't blame him for going there, but don't think it's gonna be easy turning that around.....Torres, Gerrard and Mascherano are all going to think about leaving I'd have thought.....is he good enough with spending money he'd get in for them, to make them top 4, if he's allowed to spend it? Hmm

It's not a bad thing as he's a good man and will have a healthy respect with Moyes, it's been [Poor language removed] how the derby has been going, were both better than that.

As to whether he's any good, time will tell, Danny has a point though - he's been overwhelmed in big jobs before but he's a canny manager.

And how did we do this year? He turned them around when they were candidates to go down and also took them far in Europe, and has had succesful stints abroad in the past, including international teams (did well with the Swiss) and managed top teams such as Inter. Afaik he is well liked and respected and might make Gerrard/Torres etc think twice about leaving.

We'll see Phil.

(I better check this alleged, media driven myth that he has had success abroad...)

I've been keeping an eye on Liverpool since Brad Friedel came over and their picking Roy {should he accept and that seems far from settled} would signal a huge turn-around in their attitudes both from fan and FO perspectives. Like you I have great disdain for LFC furrin Managers {and the majority of LFC fans}.. I always rooted for Moyes because of how he handled McBride and then Donovan.. but right up there with him are O'Neill and Hodgson {and a few others that would just cause argument so I wont name 'em}

Hicks and Gillette might actually have performed well as club owners if it WASNT Liverpool they bought but maybe Newcastle. But now they know they are in deep [Poor language removed] and they need someone to rescue them. The English are always carping about how British players and managers need to ramp it up. Here's a chance for that to happen, without the Manager acting like an A-List celeb.

And you guys are far from being the best judges on this. One thread you point out that LFC is fighting for their lives and profile as a storied club.. and the next that they really need to pick really high profile names to do that.
Sorry.. that hasnt worked. Except for you who want 'em to fail. Understandable but, if they went into receivership, you might eventually rue the day.
