Bad News: Liverpool might start being good again...

I disagree mate, the Champions league cup was won with the squad that Houllier had assembled, apart from that he won the FA Cup the following season, hardly a great haul of trophies for the money spent.

Allegedly they have interviewed Pelligrini, and Deschamps this week - despite already being settled on Hodgson.

Pelligrini is the only one they would be able to get in without paying a fee, the other two are contracted to clubs and if I was one of them clubs I would take them to the cleaners.

Dear me.

'The Union' really makes me chuckle.

we should protest to the local constab. that what amounts to a racially motivated demonstration is going to take place in the centre of the city, where it will be viewed by decent folks taking their kids for a day out on the train to see the Everton collection beneath the library.

The only thing more embarrassing than their "protests" is the ridiculously self-congratulatory way they talk about themselves. You'd swear the owners were terrified and had fled the city disguised as women and under the cover of darkness. The likelihood is that the Americans aren't even aware of the dozen-or-so different "protests" these idiots have launched. RAWK has been flooded with dozens and dozens of threads with self-fellating titles like "FIGHT BACK" and "GETTING ANGRY".

I also find it utterly hilarious that they seem to be boycotting every sponsor or revenue generator for the club, deciding that such things are only "helping the Americans". FFS, the Standard Chartered money and the Northern European merch sales are the only things propping up their sh1tty club, and they're doing their absolute best to tear the whole thing down.

They were dancing in the streets when the Americans came, and the very suggestion that them being plied with endless cash and a new stadium for nothing was an unfair advantage would have been met with laughter, so now that the whole thing has gone the other way they deserve every single ounce of the contempt and suffering that's around the corner.

Re: Marca: Gerrard 30m bid

As soon as this World Cup is over this will gather momentum and be the catalyst for the inevitable, which is all of our top players leaving.

If and when Gerrard says he wants to leave, which I think will be as soon as he's back from South Africa, it'll be 10 x worse than it is right now, if you can imagine such a thing. You won't be able to go anywhere or turn on a tv without hearing the latest request to leave the club from another player.

The bottom line is, if Gerrard thinks the club isn't worth staying at - and he's a born and bred scouser and the captain - then there's no way the others will disagree, and they'll chip off just the same, starting with Torres and Mascherano. Yossi is already definitely going, plus the three of them, and it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if we had to fight off some interest in Reina before the summer's out too.

It's just an awful awful time to be a red, and I honestly think the next month or so will be some of the worst days in our existence. Gerrard leaving will kick it all off.

Doesn't your heart just go out for them!? :D

You think mate?

Fulham finished last season on 46 points, 5 or so places below the season before.

A nice bloke who'll be out of his depth, a man who'll likely be overwhelmed by his position, gracious even - a yes man for the owners.

Overrated on the back of a half decent spell at Fulham. Can anyone actually remember his days at Blackburn?... He spent an absolute fortune on the likes of Nathan Blake and Christian Dailly.

And how did we do this year? He turned them around when they were candidates to go down and also took them far in Europe, and has had succesful stints abroad in the past, including international teams (did well with the Swiss) and managed top teams such as Inter. Afaik he is well liked and respected and might make Gerrard/Torres etc think twice about leaving.

We'll see Phil.

*bookmarks thread* (y)

(I better check this alleged, media driven myth that he has had success abroad...)

Too early?

Not a chance, the man was doomed to failure long before he even began at the pit.
