The pens, didnt he miss one - like the first one in absolute ages and then other people started taking them? Apart from Rom can't think of a better pen taker. Free kicks, i don't have a clue why on earth he still isn't involved tbh.

It makes you wonder who made the ultimate decision to replace Baines as penalty taker. His own lack of confidence? One of convenience?

Or was it prioritising others over him? With regards to not practising free-kicks, @Foot Long Hot Dog I'm confident that may come from above.

We've already read quotes about percentage of attempts so not practising corners and individual responsibilities. This may fall in that bracket.

Instead, I think we'd all like to see some extra practice so that we utilise them. We were a team that was once pretty good at set pieces...

Oh did he? didnt see that... the penalty take should be the best one at the club always thought that. Think was harsh he didnt get back on them, but strikers probably see them as a chance to boost their return.

It was a while ago I think, probably last season.

Baines used to be boss at them. Would just spank them into the roof, but nobody really takes them like that anymore.

Yeah i can deffo see the reasons for strikers to take them.

Baines pens prior to the missed one looked a bit ropey too. Then again as long as it goes in its a good penalty.

You know, i feel a bit sorry for Mirallas in this incident. His friend has just died, he was desperate to score because he had a message under his shirt for him. He didnt do it for himself, more in a show of support to his friend and his family.

He was wrong to wrestle it from Baines, but to a degree i understood why he did.

That might be true as well but I don't think he would have done it if there was a clear message coming from a manager he had respect for.

Of course but players get alot of spare time so you don't want players wasting team training on individuals free kicks. The same goes with defendibg set pieces. We need to work on how to play at a team
