It's actually 27 in 22 games, plus 12 assists. Utterly astounding.

Not bad is it? When Dixie got his 60 in a season he averaged 1.5 goals per game. Messi is currently on 1.3 goals per game in the league. I really didn't think Dixie's record could ever be threatened but the way Messi is playing it just might be.

Generally speaking they're not goal poacher like tap-ins he's scoring either. Many of them are absolute belters. A special player in our midsts.

I think it was between Messi and Xavi for me, but I'd go with Messi. Xavi runs that Barcelona team and almost gives them their playing style. Messi is a wonder to the eyes and has tremendous skill in every aspect of the game, except defending of course!

I'm also quite pleased they didn't go with the standard world cup theme of selecting the winners from the teams that performed the best there - let's face it, world cup's aren't quality. I remember 5minutes into the Spurs vs City game this year thinking to myself - "This is the football I've been missing".
