Band Discussion: The Human League

They were a different band when Martyn Ware was there but still good, but then Phil Oakey and the other members kicked both him and Ian Craig Marsh out, and they decided to go for a more commercial sound.

The two lads that were kicked out formed Heaven 17. I kind of find Heaven 17 to be mediocre enough, but they did do a few decent songs. A big Sheffield Wednesday fan is Martyn as well, and he also detests the tories and comes across to me as an interesting and very sound guy in interviews.

I went to a Martyn Ware book signing thingio recently, he’s an all round top bloke - funny, engaging etc.

The BBC did a documentary back in 2010 called Synth Britannia. I found Martyn Ware to be one of the best contributors to it, along with one or two others. John Foxx came across really well in it as well.

They did a few decent albums in the 80's that all there is to it really! They had a more experimental sound in their first two albums, before going for a more commercial sound.

Don't you want me baby...that lead singer guy was in the Krays? Or he was twins? I didn't think they were a real band for some reason.

Phil Oakey to the best of my knowledge has never been in the Krays. The Krays do a totally different style of music for a start! He was never in the Twins either.

A middle finger and an unsure face reaction, to my opening post on this thread. I'm sure the fact the users who gave these reactions, also happen to be the same people i've had issues with relating to more political matters, just happens to be a remarkable and bizarre coincidence.

And now to the krays that weren't a real band. I suspect you are mixing up the Kemp brothers from 'Spandau Ballet'. In terms of criminals and music, is this guy still on the run?
