Horrific scenes in Thailand. Hope everyone is safe
Is that what they’re called now. Other words are available. In true Thai style, entrepreneurs started selling overpriced water and ice-cream to those locked outside within a few minutes.
Didn’t know Bangkok was much at risk of an earthquake tbh. Surprised more buildings weren’t affected as most the places Ive stayed at were held together by superglue.I was in the office when it happened and it lasted a long time. I've been in earthquakes in Tokyo before and they tend to be short blasts in my experience, but this one lasted a few minutes. It was strong. Window seals coming loose and bits falling from the ceilings but remarkably, the centre of Bangkok looks undamaged from what I can see.

Think the centre of the earthquake was a good few 100 miles awayDidn’t know Bangkok was much at risk of an earthquake tbh. Surprised more buildings weren’t affected as most the places Ive stayed at were held together by superglue.
Think it’s best you stay outside. I dread to think what’s awaiting you indoors. In Bangkok people are now being let back into their accommodation.
I’ve seen some damage, seems to be mostly superficial damage.Think it’s best you stay outside. I dread to think what’s awaiting you indoors.

All seems relatively calm now, thankfully.
Had some mad times in Bangkok. Miss the constant sweating and German scruffs with dreads.
Would love to go back but kids and family have scuppered all my fun for 18 years.
The most sensible option. This is what’s preventing me from wanting kids lol besides, I have nieces and nephews so I can give them back when I get a headache![]()
Since 2008 they are supposed to earthquake proofed as standard but I had my doubts. They got a stiff test today though and passed with flying colours (mostly). Outside is madness though. People are sitting/lying around, unable to get home and and almost everything closed. Traffic is even more gridlocked than usual. The lobby in my condo looks like a refugee camp. People seem frightened to go upstairs but sitting in the ground floor of a 32 floor building won't help them if it collapses. The govt have opened public parks for people to sleep in.Didn’t know Bangkok was much at risk of an earthquake tbh.
