Beer, revisited

sampling some of Costa Rica's craft wares, enjoying. Their watery Central american lageris ok as far as watery lagers go... ok when it's hot and humid outside and the beer is cold. Can drink a boatload knowing you'll sweat half of them out in the next hour.

Had a fair few of these yesterday and for me it's a great session ale.

Is it spicy? What would it compare to in your opinion?
I don't find it spicy in the slightest but I know people who have previously had it and said they've felt the spice, so perhaps it depends on your palate.

It is what it says on the tin being a quite rich flavour and darker than most session ales, yet it's smooth with a soft so in my humble opinion very easy to drink.

What could I compare it to? That's a tricky one as it's not overly similar to most drinks I'd have but it reminded me - a bit - of Goose Island Honkers Ale. A bit...

It’s got a very faint hint of coriander.

That’s the taste I got.

It’s beautiful stuff, smooth as anything and tends to be only served in places that no how to look after their beers

It was in the Dispensary on Renshaw Street. They also had the Plum Porter on, which I love, but once you've had that you're sort of stuck to dark ales.

To be fair, all the ales they had on yesterday were very good. I like the Dispensary for it's beer but the licensee isn't the nicest of individuals and it's a mixed clientèle.

Don't I know it! He's banned tasters (large sign behind the bar) which I know puts a fair few ale drinkers off - it's a small but important thing. His attitude as well...

I genuinely wouldn't be surprise if he's knocked out sooner rather than later, as from accounts he is getting much, much worse with his attitude and comments.
