It's a strange one isn't it.

We are de facto the best team in our league.
We loaned PSG (best team in France) our third choice striker therefore we are better than them
James has stepped up from Bayern and Real so therefore we are better than the two best teams in Spain and Germany
Italy is not a serious league

Hard to disagree. Plus nobody in the best league in the world can beat us

When sky were picking that power ranking team the other week, Mina was on the overall list in the top bunch. Only stats like but show he's not a complete donkey as some are suggesting.

Got a good age group of CBs haven't we all between 22-25 with young Branthwaite in reserve at 18

Our first XI is extremely strong right now. Full internationals save Doucoure (because the defending WC champs are just loaded atm), and if I'd told you two years ago that our biggest question marks would be Pickford and Gomes you'd have called me delusional.

We do not have anything approaching the depth of a top European side.

Might have been the first time I'd give a little credence to the no fans thingy proving a positive...maybe. Still not sold.

Reckon he looked raw yesterday and looked very much the lad who has very little experience at this level. Positioning was off , wasn't reading the game that well and seemed to drift in too much creating space on his side.

That being said we never bought a finished article so looking forward to see him develop over the next couple of seasons. A year under Carlo and he may well be dislodging holgate out the team next season.

....really good point about him being ‘raw’ and ‘inexperienced’. I was very encouraged by his interview after he signed which was all about ‘learning‘ and ‘improving’. He seems to be an organiser and a shouter but I think playing alongside the right partner is very important.

He has the potential to make a huge difference to our central defensive capability.

Compare that with the monumental 40 games Mina has played in English football to add to the 4 league games he played for Barca. Even without adding in Cup Games, Godfrey eclipses Mina for meaningful first team games.

Godfrey was thrown on for his debut in the Derby playing out of position largely against Mane AFTER he'd scored, with Mina arguably at fault for their second goal, and it's Godfrey you have a problem with?

It was his first appearance out of position and very inexperienced at this level. Not sure why I would have a problem with him or any of my post lean into suggesting as such.

Mane disappeared after he came on until the last minute. Godfrey bossed him in the air, outmuscled him, and had the pace to deal with him. Mane had nothing after that.

He was a little bit central and not close enough to Mane for their goal that never was, but stepped up well to play him offside so all is forgiven.
Other than that thought he was excellent.
