Love this kid. Fighter, scrappy, seems to want to perform for the club, not himself. Almost old school like qualities in him.

My thoughts are basically - until teams work out how to break down 4CBs consistently - then I just want to keep this formation every game.
Having Holgate and Godfrey as full backs has been a revelation.
Godfrey was a beast tonight - clearly a better defender than Digne, who is better as a left sided midfielder.
Got a serious case of the meep meeps this lad.

....its only a matter of time before he’s our & England’s best CB. He’s going to have to wait for his chance, Mina & Keane are in top form.

without Digne we have suffered in terms of creating chances... straight choice between the two I would go Digne.. every day of the week... but agree we are so much more solid (although I do wonder if this is more about our right hand side than our left).. but would only keep Godfrey if we have Digne in front of him...
But all fit then we have Richy back... who could go right side..
problem to have but at least a good one trying to fit players we like as opposed trying to leave out players we don’t.

I would have laughed off suggestions that this is our best team even last week! Richarlison and James changing positions, Digne stretching the play, can easily revert to 5 at the back to either a 5-4-1 or 5-3-2 with Richarlison up front.Coleman Mina Keane Godfrey

Its a good problem to have. I don't mind having Godfrey as LB and Digne as LM. We don't really lose anything like this and we're extremely solid because both are good defenders, but Godfrey is bigger stronger, faster and he hasn't been beaten since he's been playing there. Digne has other qualities like crossing and passing and creates chances for the rest of the team. But he can't do that AND do all the defending Godfrey has been doing. I mean he could, but its asking a lot.
In terms of when Richy/DCL get back and what happens, well I suppose Siggy drops back to the bench, and possibly Iwobi.

But defending we're much more solid when James defends up top in a 442 like

I think when you have Digne or Richy/Iwobi type players who can defend the wing with a high work rate and lots of pace, it makes it really difficult for other teams who have been relying on pace on the wings.
