A lot will be down to wages.

IF Godfrey has been scouted as having the necessary attributes for the team, and his wages are minimal in comparison to other options, then at 22yrs of age it makes sense. I realise we have Branthwaite/Gibson coming through, as well as Holgate, Keane and Mina, but we do need another defender who can make an immediate difference.

Max Aarrons is the next big thing ( according to some/one on here ) , Lewis went to Newcastle for £15 million and Ben is apparently worth £25 million.

Can someone explain to me how Norwich had by some margin the worst defence in the Premier league last season

An accumulation of things going wrong or being done wrong rather than the shortcomings of 2 or 3 individual players.

A young defence lacking leadership after injuries to senior centre halves, several games with midfielders playing as makeshift defenders, poor cover from midfield especially after losing Klose to injury and attacking football rather than defensive pragmatism - quite possibly due to a lack of options.

There's more to defending successfully than the back four and what's done in your defensive third of the pitch.

Attacking players pressing well can lead to sloppy passes or aimless punts and snide little fouls high up the pitch will break down potential counters. Midfielders not losing the ball and inviting relentless pressure. Not work done by the back four but definitely important to the defensive side of things.

Or their keeper might have been gash :D

He’ll fit right in here then!;);)

Of the three CB’s we are currently linked with Godfrey would be my preference.
They are all young but Godfrey has the most PL experience.
I don’t think Lampard wants to lose Tomori and I’m reluctant to develop another teams player, also suspect Chelsea are happy to play us along again to their own advantage.
Todibo seems like the biggest gamble at this point.
Of course it may all be empty speculation and we end up with none of them.
