Bit of research led me to this tweet:
And this from Kirkbride's article:View attachment 134624
Pretty sure the tweet has misunderstood Kirkbride's article, although I'm not really sure what he's trying to say either.
This seems like a good reading of the situation. Hearts get the player, Beni gets his money, Everton get his wages off the books and also a little fee to help the bottom line.So basically they cancel his contract, payed him his wages for the year, and getting the fee back that matches that payment for the remaining of his contract
The Tom Davies of the Moyes era.
They paid his wages though, it’s not a savingThis seems like a good reading of the situation. Hearts get the player, Beni gets his money, Everton get his wages off the books and also a little fee to help the bottom line.
Yeah, sort of. Basically Hearts have paid the last year of his contract, so we've saved that 8k a week we would have spent. I assume the reason they've paid the club and the club have paid Beni is to get the transfer fee on the books to improve the FFP accounting. So while it isn't really profit, it'll show that way if FFP ever becomes relevant for us again. They paid his wages though, it’s not a saving
Osman might have been good at his best, but as much as he could show some great skill or score a great goal he was just as likely to go hiding when the pressure was on. He got a free pass just because he came through the ranks. Loved the club? or was just lucky to have landed at a club that would pay average to good players huge wages. No doubt we'll see him at some stage at a coaching role, passing on his in depth knowledge of how to squeeze as much cash out of the club he "loves" without actually achieving anything worthwhile.A good player who still loved the club and played his best even when sad sacks booed him for no reason?
Pretty sure that’s what we will pay him to move there will be a free transfer as long as we honour his final year of contractI’m not sure mate but I’m guessing that’s what Hearts will pay us which is equivalent to what he would of earned if he stayed for the remainder of his contract.
Surely, they pay that to us and we give that directly to him? It goes on their books as a fee out, ours as a fee in, then as a staffing cost write down?Pretty sure that’s what we will pay him to move there will be a free transfer as long as we honour his final year of contract
Ball, Jeffers and Dunne broke through in the late 90s and were gone by 2001. So for the last 2 decades we've had Hibbert, Osman and Barkley make their mark in the first team. That's the best we can do for 20 years of youth development? There seems to be a lot of money invested in the academy, and that's the return we get for it?
Don’t think so if he didn’t go out on loan which after previous loans maybe he wouldn’t of, he would then either need to be registered as he’s over 21 now so would of just sat doing nothing and possibly become another Conor McAleny. As he’s on relatively low wages compared to rest of squad easier to pay him to move on that’s my understanding of it anyway.Surely, they pay that to us and we give that directly to him? It goes on their books as a fee out, ours as a fee in, then as a staffing cost write down?

I only agree with you in that he was little. Brave is not a word I would use talking about him. To me he fitted in well with the midfielders in Moyes best years, and could show some amazing bits of skill. But I think when we were under the cosh in games, when we needed someone to drive us forward he went missing. I think there's quite a few players from the last 25 or so years that some of us will think were class acts and others think the opposite.…Osman was a little gem of a footballer, you have to be brave to always take the ball on the spin in tight areas like he did. Sadly, many of our midfielders since have got nowhere near his ability.
Victor showed promise up until he got that bad injury at Newcastle. Rodwell, another well over hyped up player who achieved not a lot, (1 Premier League title with city). I think he was on 40K a week with Sunderland in League 1, played a part in their on going financial crisis.Davies. Anichebe was crap but he played a lot of games. Rodwell.
