If it was the most important skill then our best first touch player, Bernard, would be our best player. But he isn't and the players who are the best forwards we have, DCL and Richarlison, have probably the worst touches. It matters, but there is so much else that goes into being a good player.

But you need players with an excellent touch around players like that for it to work consistently. Also need movement and speed of thought. Our midfield have terrible awareness and all of them ( Davies in particular) hit slow , rolling passes that give the opposition time to adjust. Having a touch like Bernie is necessary if you want to play quick, sharp passes that move the opposition around and create space and chances

Our best passing performance this season remains the West Ham home game in which Davies, Iwobi and Walcott, all players who got killed for their touch, excelled. There's more to it is all I'm saying. Bernard has the touch but not the other elements as much. Davies has parts of it but technique is probably not where it should be. Ultimately we need more well rounded players.

Each game is different one or 2 good cylinders out of 11 ‍

If we had better players he could play more of a role. He’s about the only bloke on the pitch who makes anything happen anyway apart fro Sidibe.
