Best and worst place to watch an originals band where you live.

Green Door Store and Hope and Ruin in Brighton are great for new upcoming bands. Chalk also a good venue for bigger artists. Concord 2 isn't all that especially in the winter when you've to walk a mile or so in the wind and rain to get there.

Hey fellow blues and lurkers

I'm interested know what hidden gems you know of which are great places to watch either an up and coming touring band or local band in your area, and also which ones are places to avoid due to crap owner or crap building.

Specifically small venues, not places like Wembley stadium or o2 arena. A place where anyone on this forum could play as their first ever gig.

I've also heard of the Lisbon and my ma's house as well.

I'll start.

Good: Voodoo Lounge, Stamford, UK - good sound, cool vibes, occasional touring band pops down there like Blaze Bayley.

Bad: Met Lounge, Peterborough, UK. Decent size venue, and sound. Absolute bell of an owner, killing any establishing scene by insisting bands break a minimum of 40 people to a gig.

I say I'm interested, but really it's a lazy attempt at scouting for new venues.
Picturedrome Northampton https://www.thepicturedrome.com/

Seen many good acts here, start ups as well as established acts, they do various nights for all sorts of events like "Silent Discos" to "Comedy Nights" reasonable entry prices for most events/gigs, decent beer selection and food too.
Quite an "intimate" venue due to its size, parking can be a mare though
