I haven’t seen the film but reading that section in the novel gets me EVERY timeEven though you know from the start, that Viggo Mortensson is dying, the ending of The Road still gets me every time.

Music score helped.
It's the most relentlessly bleak book I've ever read, its clear that mankind has somehow stamped all life out from the planet and that events will get even worse in the pages of the book. Yet you still can't help but hope. The film is not a patch on the book, as they bottled it with some of the content, which I assume, was to avoid an 18 rating in the cinema.
But, they got the ending spot on in the film, as it virtually mirrors the book.
It`s one of my all time favourite books, even though it makes me sob my heart out, every time I read it lol
I watched that film not long after my first child was born and cried through the entire thing.Even though you know from the start, that Viggo Mortensson is dying, the ending of The Road still gets me every time.

It’s more emotive x 10.
It destroyed me the first time I read it. I must’ve read it read it at least half dozen times since then and the ending still gets me.
Even though the ending is heartbreaking, it‘s is all about hope though.

It was the timing when I watched the movie that [Poor language removed] me up, all I could think about was it being me and my daughter on the road
