Best ever solo artist

In my opinion - Nick Cave, brilliant lyrics, brilliant music. I have got all his albums and I desperately try to watch him live in Vienna each year but unfortunately his only Austrian concert is always sold out month before one even knows the tour date.

Nick Cave is up there, but not too keen on his piano ballad stuff he's done recently. Grinderman were great though.

Elliott Smith is my favourite singer/songwriter. Brilliant guitarist fantastic lyrics, and he somehow avoids all cliche.

Paul Weller gets my vote.....Avid fan.....Always loved the Jam/Style council.But he is on another level when solo. Saw him in Hamburg a couple of years ago. Try to see im every time he tours.

No, for me as well, Paul Weller from the modern-day solo world.

Too many from different styles if you go back far enough. James Brown, Johnny Cash, Elvis, Miles Davis.
