It had changed a little when I went, got a bit soft, but the fact it was an All boys school kept you on your toes.

I have good and very bad memories of the Yossers.........it was scary, it was humorous but on reflection I'm glad those days have gone. It was always the big thing to be a 'cock' be it class, year or school, some of the scraps settling arguments were blood baths but you survived because you had to. If you were caned you'd wear the welts with pride, the more you got beat you became to be considered harder and harder. Yossers ultmate deterent was the whale bone strap delivered with gusto by the head, or if his back was bad, his deputy............the toughest lads were intears after that, I got it once, two strokes for something I didn't do but I did as I was expected to, kick the living daylights out of the guy who set me up....................Montys school days................it wouldn't happen today

My Dad wasn't really that much into football, or any sport, unless he was playing a game of snooker or pool - but he raved about George Best. Sadly, i was too young to see him, even on TV, before he started to lose it.

his real nickname apparently was , "the dick of death"

He married that long lusted after news reader from the states and she got shut of him because she couldn't take it any more, if you get my drift. Last I heard he was living off rental income form developments he got involved in, one of the poorest actors ever
