Confirmed Signing Beto

Pretty average goal-scoring record in Italy. Can't remember the last time a player from Serie A came over and proved a big success (outside of Salah and Jorginho who had a lot more pedigree).

Cancelo
Pedro Neto
Alisson
Marcos Alonso
Rudiger

In the past five years or so.

There’s a lot of Serie A players who come on the cheap and don’t do that well but generally if a decent transfer fee is involved they seem to be relatively successful.

I fear Beto to be in the former - despite his inflated price tag. Mentioned it before, hallmarks of a Watford signing when they're in Prem only to be shipped back out on loan a year later.

At the same time, beyond caring at this point and the need for a CF is so desperate already.

Mad that if we get this fella - and it's still a huge if - we'll have ended up committing over £30m, whereas West Ham are about to buy a vastly superior player in Kudus for just £10m more

Everton, awful club.
The chance to get Kudus was last summer, and United got in the way by buying Antony from Ajax, we were never gonna be an option from that point on

Hopefully the better the player the more they cost does not catch on... Imagine the mess we would be in then.

Release clause has expired.
The expiry of the release clause has probably prompted another push for him- Udinese have probably waited all summer to see if anyone would pay it as it’s 30m straight cash if they do, but teams rarely have the cash to do so.

Now the clause has expired it just comes down to negotiation and deal structuring. So the expiry works in our favour- the fact no one paid his release tells Udinese his market value is lower so if we can structure a deal that gets close it has a higher chance of being accepted.
