Missed that first shot and I thought “oh no, here we go again.” Then the run, beating the defender and first time shot past the charging keeper changed it all. Shades of Lukaku there and I liked it. Almost buried that header as well. Feeling hopeful.

Very, very well-taken goal. Having not seen him before beyond YouTube clips, my first impression is that he has the potential to be a proper number 9 for us, but maybe he has just a bit of clumsiness about him sometimes where it seems like he hasn't completely harnessed his obvious athleticism. Think he'll miss a few he probably shouldn't and then score a few that leave us truly impressed. Either way, he's got goals in him.

He is only 25 after all, so he's probably not the completely finished product. Seemed to have a fighting mentality as well. Definitely liked what I saw tonight.

That header that smashed into the post was absolutely brutal. Haven't seen that kind of power since Lukaku.

Positive start, hopefully he can be the shining light.

You could see how even a player like Maupay grew around him. If his teammates can trust that the number 9 will help create or hold up play, it will allow them to commit forward. Too often we have hit long and hoped, pushed up, lost the ball and then been exposed.
