TBH when it comes to Beto I think we are probably only just at the point where he's become gettable. He's had a few links to big clubs, including Napoli to replace Osimhen if he left so it's probably only at this stage of the window it's clear they are not going to materialise and other offers are being considered by club and player. Plus his release clause expired so if Udinese were holding out for it to be triggered to get the full amount up front it's only just become clear to them no one will and they have to negotiate a deal.

I think a deal for the likes of Adams / Iheanacho / Daka types, if they were what we wanted, could and should have been concluded before the first game and I was baffled when we went for Adams when he could've been got two months earlier. But maybe this is the one we were waiting on.

Finally I hope we have the long awaited Lukaku replacement. Not only am I hoping for an end to the goal drought but also the lifting of the pressure on the defence who are coming under fan pressure, when in reality they are working overtime with the ball coming back in to their area like a ping pong ball. A strike force and proper hold up men benefit any defence. Here's hoping. The 2 losses so far at Goodison were not "no hope" losses, we played ok.
