2024/25 Beto

Since he has been at the club, in 17 actual match starts he has scored 12 goals, id say that's a fairly decent record myself.
Sorry to be pedantic (and it doesn’t change it being a good record) but in 18 starts he has scored 7 goals. The other goals have come as a sub, including the goals but not the games from being a sub makes for a slightly misleading stat.

It's quite nice to see a player performing for us, isn't it?

I had written him off. Remember his debut? Came on and bullied Doncaster in the cup. We were rancid until he and Gueye came on. But Beto lifted the team, led from the front. I think many of us hoped we'd signed a gem.

Then... it didn't quite translate in the Premier League. Maybe the pace and canny nature of Premier league defenders caught him out. Probably Dyche-Ball didn't do him any favours. Confidence also arguably took a dip.

Well, Moyes has given him his chance. He's taken it, with aplomb, playing to his strengths. He's looked like the no. 9 who came on against Doncaster.

Let's hope he stays fit and in form.

And looking like he is really enjoying it too.

He looked Sunday league level under Dyche. Wasn’t the only one to be fair…

On the evidence of his last 3 games, he’s our 1st choice striker.

Lukaku was never that technically gifted, just big, fast, strong & could finish.

And Beto appears to have a great attitude. Absolutely delighted for the lad and for us!

COYB!!!!!!!!

At least Beto won’t be mouthing off about going to an elite club every international window.

Already better value than Tosun.

TBF what’s happened with Beto - actually playing someone for a consistent period in their right position and in a way that maximizes their skills - is something we never really did with any of our second / backup forwards after the start of Martinez’s second season.

I dare say we could have done this with Tosun, or Kean or any of the rest and seen better results than what we did out of throwing them on for the last ten minutes of doomed games / making them impersonate DCL or Rom once every five weeks.

Fbref says differently so will agree to disagree mate
I assume you’re misunderstanding the point. I’m not debating how many goals he’s scored, I’m saying he hasn’t scored 12 goals in 17 starts, because a number of his goals came as a sub. By including the goals but not upping the appearances it gives a misleading impression of how likely he is to score when he starts a game.

Never said they were the same, I was taking about the reaction to them coming in out the cold and scoring a few goals and getting hyped by some of the fan base
He’s doing well right now in the here and now and that’s what matters and fair does to the lad.

He’s showing he can finish, but other parts of his game aren’t up to
The level required if you want to kick, can he improve them at 26/27?
I hope he scores another 10 and we get 30mil for him in the summer
The grass is always greener. Keep Beto and get another striker in . We need decent competition for places.

Then forget about all that stuff, can't we just we positive for the guy that he is scoring goals from starts and deserves his place that's all I'm really bothered about at the end of the day tbh.
