To commemorate Bill's latest letter to the faithful, I mark this day with another message to another fanbase.
Exactly 40 years ago today, Chicago Cubs manager Lee Elia expressed his thoughts a bit more directly, at nearly the beginning of the season. If MLB had relegation, we'd have been in the Arizona fall league by then. They made the playoffs in the next year. The content is relentlessly salty with emphasis on one adjective for basically everything. I'm old enough to remember the whole thing. Lee did not finish the year, which won't be a surprise.
