Boss photos you've taken

You might recognise this, and if you do, seeing what it has in the depths of the detail, you might consider not using it....

Something that chops stuff? I do like macro shots of everyday household items that show them on a totally different scale like this, making them unrecognisable almost.

Some awkward to get to pond photo's this morning. Kneeling on a mat, balancing over water is not a simple thing early in a morning!

These are all hand held using the live view screen - but an additional problem came from the sunlight making the screen harder to see as the sun bounced off it...

This was a bakery where I worked in Soho in London in the early 70s. It was a great time. We went in the back door front left and crossed a small courtyard to be met by Mr Gruhne - the owner of the establishment since before the 40s - who handed us our tasks for the day. i was a ledger clerk. He said "Have you done any clerking before young man?"

It was like something out of Dickens. I would take my three course lunch on a tray, served at a huge conference table in the top of the building by a West Indian woman who came and went with no sound. I then went out onto the little balcony to have a fag and look out over the Soho rooftops.

If only it was glue, lol...

To give you an idea of the approach - here is one of the images I didn't use - main reason being I was at 1:1 focus and it wasn't showing what I wanted everyone to see...

But this might give you an idea of how I approach the subject first, before changing things like zoom levels, or adding (like in the single aphid photo) three extension tubes and with the lens at 2:1 focus...

Ultimately, whilst in this photo the 2nd aphid was good and clear, the rest of the image, despite the babies, was too messy and cluttered. So it was the one at the head of the gathering that I went for as the single working shot...

I love macro photography but it's a pain in the arse with anything that threatens to move...tried it for a short while and realised it's more that I just enjoy the outdoors, in general. Hah.

There's a whole other world out there, though, in the space 100 square feet...
