Boxing

AJ himself I'm sure will be up for it, he rematched Ruiz immediately after getting battered by him after all, but Hearn and company don't want their cash cow anywhere near puncher unless forced too because 1 more loss and it's over for him. They're hanging on for the Fury cash out.
It would be a good fight, styles would match up well. They’ve been trying to boxing to china for years and would make big money, especially in Macau. Wilder is a bigger puncher than Zhang and they’re trying to make that happen.

He just has no clue how to protect himself. Got away with it in other fights because he has a good chin. But that fella last night can whack. Honest lad joe but his limited skills totally exposed
He seems like a really nice fella but the whole he’s durable and got a great chin doesn’t last long in that division, especially when you step up in competition. He was far too slow and predictable. His footwork and move g is slow but when he’s throwing a shot, feels like he’s moving at a slugs pace. Still think he can beat some of the top ranked fighters cos his style is awkward, but anyone with fast hands and footwork would always cos him issues.

AJ Wilder dubai. Get it all paid up. they're all at the cusp of finishing anyhow. Usyk may hang on a couple of years but Zhang is simple enough to overwhelm him. Offer fury enough money, he'd fight on the moon with no oxygen.

One thing about that division, they are all slowing down and coming to the end but doesn’t seem like there is any youngsters coming up to go on and rule the division and make it exciting.

Showtime down and out for the count (after 2024)

(Big Bang) Zhang - turned pro in 2014, at the ripe old age of 31. 26 pro fights up till now, one loss. I realise covid put the wobbles on a lot of sports. Seems a shame he might just make it to a belt somewhere and not get much time left at the top to relax and pick his defences.

Shame this. Gone the way of HBO boxing.

I'm of two minds, if the games gone stale let someone else have a run, but if the games got harder because the super promoters have all avenues stitched up then it's a worry because the sport can't breath and grow. Don't need no more don king shows live from a drained swimming pool type events. properly grim.

It's the second one for me.

With HBO and now Showtime gone in the states who is left to pay the large prices the fighters and promoters are demanding?

DAZN looks like it could die at any time.

There's really been nothing exciting about heavyweight boxing for years, really.

God, when you re-watch the fights around 1965-1975 with the top boys of Ali, Frazier, Liston, Foreman, Lyle etc, the last decade has been an embarrassment, in terms of quality.

When I watched the Rocky films I thought they were so unbelievable and unrealistic. The amount fighting, hard hitting and punishment taken in the films was totally unrealistic to boxing I knew at the time, circa 2000s.

Then I starting watching the heavyweights from the 60s/70s on YouTube and my god, boxing then was actually like the Rocky films - absolutely brutal. Hard hitters and harder chins. Foreman Vs Lyle for instance is my fave example of many.

And boxers at the top rarely avoided each other, because they wanted to be the best...the champ.

Heavyweight boxing today is just nowhere near it.

Can’t compare it to that era but after the Klitschko era of dominance. The division had an excitement back after a decade of it been boring and slow. Can’t compare them in terms of quality but the rise of Joshua defo gave the buzz back to the division again. You had great domestic heavyweight fights, also the excitement of potential fights. There defo was an excitement again.

Gonna call it now… and hope I’m wrong… but the Fury v Usyk fight won’t happen despite what’s been said
I said to one of my mates it won’t happen.

Wouldn’t be surprised if they’re using it to try and sell the fury v Ngannou fight a bit more.
