Boxing

Boxing was better when the main part of the show was the fight. Now, the fight itself feels more like the rolling credits than the final scene.

I just couldn't get excited about this fight, not that I tried. When you look at it for what it was, it was a youtuber fighting a man who said after his last fight 20 years ago, he was washed up and the fight had gone from him.

I honestly have no idea what people are getting so upset about the fight for. What exactly were they expecting?

The Monster is back on show in Japan in a few weeks, but they won’t watch that
I remember I was flying to London and shared a row of seats with the Gallagher lads and they were complaining they had a presser in Japan soon and the ongoing flight was delayed. It was Paul butler and his missus and a few other lads. I wished him well and good luck and he goes “I’m gonna fkn need it pal”.

Was on the train with Paul Holdkinson the other week, talking about Nick Ball. L32/L33 through the roof.

Same people who get angry, worked up and annoyed by Jack Paul and his antics in boxing. Are the same people who say boxing is dead but don’t tune in unless it’s a big fight. Honestly, I don’t understand why people get so wound up by it. Don’t like it, simply don’t give it the attention because then, you’ve fell into a trap of why it’s successful, because you give it the attention they want.

Katie Taylor vs Serrano, although the first fight was massive and great fight, delivered again last night and more likely had, more eyes on it than the first fight. Incredible from them both again.

Honestly, this whole thing that boxing is dead is pathetic. That was a phrase used by the marketing geniuses of the UFC to put eyes on them, it worked. But let’s be honest, people will always prefer boxing, especially 50/50 fights.

All these people getting angry by Jake Paul saying he’s making a mockery of Boxing, how many are you watching Zurdo vs Chris Billam-Smith tonight? A great fight by the way, if you aren’t giving that attention but saying Boxing is dead, then don’t comment on the sport you clearly know nothing about.

People tuned in en mass because its a bigger draw then 99% of anything boxing can offer despite being a total farce. It just proves that the majority of the audience don't really watch boxing to see a legit sport. They'd rather see a sopaopera.
There's a void in quality boxing bouts, there's nothing to get excited about, if there's a freak show on offer with a bit of nostalgia we'll have a nosey in case the unthinkable happens and Tyson actually managed to spark the prick out.

There isn’t a void in quality boxing bouts but a void in the marketing and high level promotion of boxers. Boxing has been great for years and been lot of great fights in recent times. Sadly, people aren’t interested in a boxer once they lose a fight. Once hang 0 goes, they get called all kinds from over hyped, over rated, never good in the first place and so on. That’s what the problem with boxing is.

Some fighters who are world class operators don’t get the respect, publicity or backing they should from respective media.

There is far too much boxing nowadays for people to keep up with what’s what.

Paul rumoured to have 'earned' somewhere in the region of $40m from it.
Tyson $20m.
Those numbers laugh at any critics.

Good on them both. Massive paydays for them both. Read that Katie Taylor made a guaranteed $6million which is incredible considering women’s boxing has only become mainstream in the last decade really. Hope all the fighters got paid well especially Barrios.

Watching Zepeda vs Farmer at the minute and surprised at how much Farmer is giving him trouble. No way they allow him to fight Shakur Stevenson next.

There's some bad things about Saudi including the atmosphere but they are making big fights happen on a consistent basis. There has probably been more undisputed fights in the last 2 years than the 20 or so before it.
