The Floyd are one of those bands where there is totally awesome material and totally gash material, the beauty of their appeal is that different people enjoy the different aspects of their sound in different ways. Dark Side of the Moon and Wish You Were Here are immense and a must have in my opinion, The Wall is on a different level much more akin to a rock opera but again IMO a must have, but for me this signified a watershed. I've listened to The Final Cut and Momentary Lapse of Reason, but they're not for me, I have the Division Bell but although there is some good 'music' in there it still somehow misses the target.

Pretty similar to me on that shout mate. I do like the Division Bell more than most Floyders though.

Goat me old chum, apparently you're a big guy, and I ain't gonna mess with ya

but i'm talking about the original release of The Final Cut, which "Tigers" ain't a part of

I love the track, it was originally written for inclusion on the wall, but only ended up on the film version

it sounds like you've got the 2004 release of the The Final Cut which includes "Tigers", i assume because of the war reference

Ah yes, you make a fine point, ive got the CDs somewhere which I bought when I was a young un, but downloaded Digital remastered bollox a while ago to listen on my PC, thus means why it has Tigers on it.

Animals is undoubtedly their finest masterpiece

although they admittedly had more than one

Rog' is a nihilist

This I agree with, but it seemed as tho you said you dont like Final Cut or momentary.

No I like most of the stuff they've done, there's a few gems even on the albums I'm not dead into. But on some of their best albums there's not a single bad song and it plays like a proper album should, like a story.

Have to agree with the Chico here, I'll give Final Cut and Momentary a relisten when I get a chance to see if my overall opinion has changed with a few more years beind me.

The first few are experimental, they don't hit their brilliance until Dark Side of the Moon for me like.

I actually believe Atom Heart Mother is where they first gave us a glimpse of their genius

there really are some truly awesome songs on that album

although a guy reciting the components of a fried brekky and a whole side of the record dedicated to Korean school children singing was a bit much, even if the Floydsters were tripping their barnets off
