Match Thread Brentford 1-1 Everton. Wednesday Feb 26th. 7.30pm

It'll be the same starting XI, and will continue that way even if we lose. I guess he doesn't want to start Alcaraz in many games because it'll mean he has less flexibility in selecting him later in the season as his clause will kick in sooner rather than later if he's in ahead of Doucoure now.

Hard call this. If we lost 2 or 3 nil i wouldnt be that surprised. If we won 2 nil i wouldnt be that surprised.
Need to keep that Mbeumo quiet.

Think we have been quite good against them recently but they always give you a tough game. We should have comfortably beat them at home but they still gave us problems.

I do find it weird that Alcaraz's clause was written like that - starts rather than appearances. Can easily be gamed.

I think a cheeky win here - Moyes will have them up for it as he's smart enough to know we need to beat the less glamourous teams (my apologies to Brentford) to get anywhere in this league and knows that needs to be a habit that forms as soon as possible.

Smash and grab. Minimum of fuss. Not even Brentford or us particularly remember it in a few weeks' time but grinding out this type of 3 points is the bedrock of decent league performance.

can’t say I’m expecting too much despite all the positivity. brentford have an incredible home record, the players are knackered, and the unbeaten run has to come to an end at some point

Certainly seems like it will be a step too far to expect a win. However i thought the same about the Palace game
