on one hand it's stupid because is it not supposed to clear the ball?

on the other hand, he can see the player coming and stooping low so it's stupid to kick out.

There does need to be something done about these provoked “fouls” - like the one Gomes got done for last season at Newcastle, or like 90% of the fouls Gerrard used to get, if it’s the attacker who has provoked the contact it shouldn’t be a foul.

We’ve got VAR so they should be easy to spot and deal with.
