Bridgend, wtf is going on

Mont I have studied suicide extensively - I have had to.

Personally, I think the media are looking for an angle, as usual. The whole internet cult thing is interesting and sells - but its a daft suggestion.

I don't know the ins and outs - but is it certain that they are all actually suicides and theres no chance of murder being a possibility?

Weirdly my colleague from works sister in laws boyfriend commited suicide last night. Personally I think its a very selfish thing to do especially when you still have family and loved ones.

I think people are way to quick to label suicide victims selfish.

Most are anything but.

wouldn't that make it his brother? or am I mistaken

Just the way I see it mate. I had a friend who commited suicide on christmas eve. His mum, dad and brother had no idea there was even anything wrong. In his note he cited that he couldnt get a decent job and that he didnt have a girlfriend. His poor family (and friends) had a [Poor language removed] christmas and are reminded of it every year. Selfish.

Maybe so, but I think selfish maybe the wrong word to use Mick.

My opinion on it;

In the vast majority of cases though, the only selfish people are the victims peers and society who have neglected their needs. You dont wake up one morning and think '[Poor language removed] it, i'll piss everyone off today and go an dive in front of a train'

Example. A young 16 year old girl commits suicide. Why? she fears shes a lesbian. Is that selfish?
Another example. A young teenage lad was sexually abused when a child, struggling to cope he commits suicide. Selfish?

Some cases, say committing suicide to avoid seeing the mrs when you know she has just learned of your affair... but its daft to generalise all suicides as selfish.
And

To an extent, people would say yes. [that a person who committed suicide because of heavy debt is selfish] But the debt is just the instigator to embarrassment and feeling of 'letting everyone down'. Just an instigator as maybe sex abuse is to the same feeling as 'worthlessness' etc. People with heavy debt feel worthless and in that state of mind, genuinely do think they are doing their families a favour and that 'they'll be better of without me, they can claim insurance etc'

People shouldn't be so quick to call suicide selfish.

My argument though was is it idiotic to generalise all suicides as 'the most selfish act'.

I understand that these people deem that they have despicable problems and to be fair a lot do. But the people who have family and friends that love and care for them to me is an act of selfishness- Im unsure what other word to use it.

I myself have had problems in the past and you feel like the weight of the world is on your shoulders but the easy way out is suicide- Dylan said it best I think.

Well it seems that Bridgend must be the most depressing place in the world if this series of deaths is to go by. It is the easy solution to a problem the individual considers to be insurmountable at the time, one thing with suicide proves is that hindsight is a waste of time.

As for a cult connection I wouldn't totally write that one off having seen what some so called religious groups have got up to over the years. If you are convinced in a life after death then that could help them decide that they've nothing to lose despite most mainstream religions preaching against suicide

'thou shalt not kill' kinda bares in on that though.

is there a chemical connection? and that is not exclusive to the illegal chemical infrastructure.
