How the absolute fuq did the VAR not simply award the penalty? That's utterly scandalous officiating.

I don't blame the referee for missing it in the first place, but the VAR, I but sn't it their job to correct any obviously wrong decisions?

There was no need at all for the referee to be sent to the monitor - unless I don't understand the rules.

Yes they got to the right decision, but it should have been corrected within about 30 seconds as it was so obvious.
