I would do the same for the last place in the CL 4th-7th play off winner gets in and the other 3 in Europa league.Stuttgart looking to stay in Bundesliga 1 v Hamburg looking to get out of Bundesliga 2. First leg tonight.
Personally, I think we should adopt this for the third relegation/promotion slot from and to the PL.
I like it. Good idea.I would do the same for the last place in the CL 4th-7th play off winner gets in and the other 3 in Europa league.
Better chance of the monopoly being broken at the top end.
Throw that Conference thing in the bin
For instance someone like Villa/Brighton this season could have a shot at getting in there, if they did then a lot of there better players might not be poached as inevitably they will be. Which then reults in a re-build, rinse and repeat...I like it. Good idea.
Not so long ago we'd have been in those play offs every season.
Not a fan of play offs. If you've finished clear 3rd in the Championship or Leagues 1 & 2 it's a crock of crap.
Same with relegation. If you've been total toilet enough to finish bottom 3, down you go.
IIRC Villa were - outside of City - the best performing team in the PL from the restart post WC.For instance someone like Villa/Brighton this season could have a shot at getting in there, if they did then a lot of there better players might not be poached as inevitably they will be. Ah yes, the transition from First Division /second division to PL / Championship. We did , sort of , in 86/87 and 87/88 seasons - from Wiki
In the first two seasons, the team one place above the relegation zone in the First Division, along with the three clubs below the automatic promotion positions in the Second Division, took part in the play-offs.[9] In the inaugural play-off final, First Division Charlton Athletic faced Second Division Leeds United but they could not be separated over the two home-and-away legs, so the tie was settled in a replay. Played at a neutral ground, St Andrew's in Birmingham, Charlton won the game 2–1 after extra time to retain their First Division status, while Leeds remained in the Second Division.[9][10] The following season, Middlesbrough beat Chelsea 2–1 on aggregate, and replaced them in the First Division.[11] The primary objective of the play-offs was achieved within the first two seasons, namely the reorganisation of the four leagues with 20 clubs in the first tier and 24 in the second to fourth tiers.[12] However, the popularity of the play-offs was such that the post-season games were retained and the 1989 play-offs were first to feature four teams from the Second Division:[12] Crystal Palace beat Blackburn Rovers 4–3 over two legs after extra time in the final.[13]
...and Moyes would've bottled every oneI like it. Good idea.
