The problam is neb..
1. they get about 6 weeks for it, an
2. the little [Poor language removed] just come straite out an do it again!!

They'll aleays remember a good kicking!

Plus, we are the ones who foot the bill for these cunnts going in an out of nick!

Totally agree. These buggers will remember a good kicking, and it will help their victims knowing they got what they deserve rather than the slap on the wrist the courts give (if it ever gets to court).

I hate to sound like an old fart but in the street I grew up in theives did get a good beating. We didn't get many. I don't really believe we should take the law into our own hands, but until the law wakes up, or finds a way to make money from burglers, it is all we have.

Sorry to hear that mate we have been done twice once when we lived in Maghull and the other time in Kenny .we where looking after my sick grandmother on both occasions as for the police? useless.Sherlock told me in Maghull that they knew we were out and in Kenny its kids.they smeared excrement on the walls in Maghull and urinated on the bed in Kenny and both felt the need to smash my aquariums killing fish that where quite expensive.we moved after each one because the wife could not settle and as you say was scared to go out in case they come back the slime. As for taking the law in your own hands a mate came home years ago to find his meter in the hall broke open so he picked up a hammer ,he left all his tools in the cupboard, and sneaked in to the house as he got to his yard the guy was climbing out so he hit him with the hammer breaking three fingers .the police came to take the [Poor language removed] away and also arrested my mate for causing actual harm and he got a bigger fine than tee burglar he refused to pay and would have done time but there was a whip round in work to pay it.his wife was relieved but John felt he had been cheated by the law.

Sorry to hear that Woody.

Do many people use alarm systems in the UK? Are they affordable? Are they practical?

A lot of your homes here in the suburbs in the USA have some sort of system to deter burglars.

Bill I had them in both homes the second one was linked to a number who get whats need police fire what ever the crisis they actually called the house to ask the burglars if everything was alright asthe alarm had been activated.if I didn't laugh I would cry(y)

When the alarm goes off, they call the home.

If someone answers, they need to give a password to the security company. If they don't know it, then they can expect a visit from law enforcement in short order.

Often times an alarm will go off accidentally. I remember our family being out of town over the summer and our alarm went off. Turns out the door from the garage to our backyard wasn't shut/locked and somehow came open.

So they call to verify. If no one answers (as we didn't), the security company will certainly send someone from the local law enforcement (as they did) to check the place out.

Its [Poor language removed] mate. If you take the law into your own hands in this country your in more friggin trouble than the offender and if you hit someone they get the compo. Brilliant. Whoever thought of that should have jump leads clipped onto their balls and water thrown on them. 2008 eh? Never thought I'd see days like these.

I'm absolutely disgusted by some of your stories. How people can do this to such a nice person like you and everyone on here is beyond me.

Sorry to hear that mate. Luckily never experienced it myself, that a burglar got access to my house. One time had my car windows smashed in and my radio an cd's where robbed. I know I shouldn't have left them exposed like that, but I was late going to an icehockeymatch and completely forgot about it.

In the end it was only my car, but it still felt terrible. If it's your house, I can imagine it's even much worse. Not only the financial damage, but maybe more so, because they hurt your privacy.

Listening to all stories, I think you have the same problem in England, as we have in Holland. The government is far to soft on these issues. Should really clamp down harder on these low-lifes.:@

A real sickener, I feel for you. I have relatives who have been done and it is an awful nightmare.

As for the Police they will not be interested, too many such robberies and little chance of catching the thieving gits.

That's really horrible Woody.

It is probably my biggest fear. I've such a young family that I've turned in to the worlds lightest sleeper and can get up 3-4 times a week in the night to go check things out downstairs. Slightly paranoid, but rather safe than sorry.
I live in a 4 year old house on a decent new estate and all the doors and windows are supposedly thieving [Poor language removed] proof. Doesn't stop me sleeping with a claw hammer by the bed though and a few things safely dotted around the house just incase. I've no qualms about using them to protect my family, but in this day and age you hope it never happens. Not just because it's not a nice thing to happen, but for the way the current incompetent government treat people that stand up for themselves in their own homes.

The UK has really gone to [Poor language removed] under Labour. I can't think of a single thing they have got right for the everyday working man. You have to be rich as [Poor language removed] or an immigrant in this country to get something from this Labour government and that is quite pathetic in 2008. Sad to say the main opposition don't look much better. Maybe emigration is the answer.

I [Poor language removed] hate the Police.

Sorry to hear about that one mate. We came home once and there was a little [Poor language removed] in our kitchen. We've got security grills on the windows but he'd forced them open with a car jack. When he saw us he squeezed out thwe window like a [Poor language removed] snake. If I'd kicked him in the head I'd have literally broken his neck. But I had our 3 month old daughter in my arms and it's not really my instinct. He'd obviously just got in when we came back as there was nothing taken and there was a purse on the table with cash in it. My wife hasn't slept properly since (my daughter will be 9 next month) and I think it' was the fact that we actually saw the [Poor language removed]. We got a free car jack. great.
