Yep, but he needs to get his own players in.

Not much you can do with substandard players...

Theres 2 schools of though:

The Carragher view which is that managers should adapt the system to the players

The Neville view which is that players should adapt to the managers system or be sold.

I go with the Neville view

I agree with both.

When a new manager comes in to a club he has to work with what he has got so should operate a system to get the best out of the players he has inherited.

But, after a couple of transfer windows he should have his own players forming the spine of the team and the managers desired system should come more naturally to his team.

If Gomes not fit bring in Davies Schneiderlin onto bench. If Gueye not fit bring in Schneiderlin. If neither both get brought in and McCarthy on bench. Richarlison rested as he has played most games and him Walcott DCL brought in against tiring defenders later on and then back for Brighton game. Digne rested for this one Coleman to get rest against Brighton. 3 Centre backs rotated again.

If we win or lose who really cares?

We'll finish 10/11th regardless under a manager incapable of pushing us any further and an owner who makes baffling on the field decision making.

Only thing keeping me going at the moment is the hope BMD goes ahead and the whole ownership sell up for a profit and ride off into the sunset and we finally get an owner with the ambition to take EFC forward.

Yesterday was inexcusable. But if we want to make anything of this season, it starts now against Burnley, Brighton and Leicester. We may have had a reality check but no point crying over spilt milk this needs to be a refreshing win like we did a few seasons ago.

Still having nightmares about Ashley Barnes ragging Keane all over the place in this so fixture last year. In theory we should have the centre halfs to cope with Burnley's physical approach.
Can't have a CM partnership of Davies and Schneiderlin surely....

Only change I would make from the above is Theo out, Lookman in.

I read a lot here, but rarely post... and yes, I realize I have an unpopular username. Davies has struggled, but he's very young still. Not time yet to give up on him in my view. Anyway, here a coupe of random thoughts:


- dropping Mina was a huge mistake. One bad game and he's dropped? What????? Keane was horrible, he should be dropped (and hopefully for good). Mina-Zouma pairing for me.

- Gana was missed. I'm not a fan of his AT ALL, but he's our only true defensive mid. Playing without a defensive mid is not smart. In my view, we should upgrade from Gana in next transfer window... but until then, he's got to play (unfortunately).

- Theo, despite the goal, has struggled a lot. He just doesn't offer much does he? I don't get why others don't get a real chance ahead of him, mainly Lookman. Strange to me.

- Pickford.... that's twice now. Of course we stick with him, no doubt there... but he needs to sort it out!

- Seamus has disappointed, we need more from him. This is obvious, as is that we need to look for a replacement in the next window.

- Siggy has played well for most of this season. I am not sure why he gets so much criticism on here. Last season, sure... but this one?
