I once played table-tennis against this ole boy who a part time scout for Leicester and we were chatting after our game (old f**Y(r beat me).
We'd just signed Keane and he said "Watch him play, half the time he's got his body and legs in the wrong position!". He was saying he'd scouted him for a while and wasn't convinced.
I know EXACTLY what he means. Ability, yes. Got a goal in him which is great for a defender. Only, he's not a very good defender. Can't pin what it is, concentration or what. But there was a moment around 50 -60 minutes, Burnley having a go and it comes back to him and we've got time. What does he do? Tries to hit a worldie pass out to McNeil, who in fairness did gather and cross it. But the point is, we didn't need to. There wasn't a break on, and quickly Burnley had the ball ad were pressing again.
It's like he's just not got the decision making for his position. Which is a tough one to learn, unfortunately. But I think he's honest and does have ability, and maybe needs a Dyche to keep his role clear, and reduce errors from sort of doing what he doesn't need to. Great second tonight though
