Can we have some calm for once?

Just watched one of the best games ever. RS v Citeh. Illustrated we are years behind their standards. If only we could produce a Foden or an Elliott from our juniors.
do you think everton will invest in youth scouting like city or red [Poor language removed] !!? we still too far from that financially

Yes we have lost two games but there seems to be a lot of concern that we are no further on than last season.

Yes, both performances were disappointing that we sat back so much but realistically we are only just getting forward options fit/settled in and include Onana in that because the way he strides forward is incredible.

We restricted Spurs to very little last night and arguably we had the better chances in that first half alone. Once we get past Newcastle in the week, we play teams that are going to be around us this season and if we maintain the defensive quality we have shown then we will keep clean sheets and it will give the attackers a platform to build from.

I would not judge us on these two defeats but where we are come the WC break. If we are close to relegation by then it will start to sound alarm bells but I don’t think we have seen anything like last season (even against United wasn’t that bad) and that can only be positive.
Calm down calm down.

I think if we actually all think back to a week ago, I don’t think anyone would have expected to get a result off United or Spurs. The reality is we have lost those games due to mistakes in each game and ultimately missing chances. We are going in the right direction. There is a massive difference to a chance falling to say Che Adams and Antonio against Southampton and West Ham, to chances falling to Ronaldo and Kane. Ultimately the better players make you pay. Look at City today, dominated the game, Liverpool looked the away side, they had 40% possession and 2 shots on target, one of them went in because of a mistake and a clinical striker.

What we have to work on is getting the ball upfield and creating chances. What I have noticed is that even though we are going in the right direction there still seems to be a distinct lack of effort on target or making the goalkeeper work. It’s something that has followed us around for a few years now. Someone needs to get the ball, have a run forward and few yards and hit a shot on target, preferably within the first 15 minutes.

The goals we scored against Palace, which is a game in our recent history where we actually scored 3 goals, all of them goals came from crosses into the box with players actually being there. 2 of them where free kicks and one of them delle Alli just has a random shot which falls for Richy, we have to figure out a way to start doing this more often. How are we going to start scoring goals? When we went 1-0 up against United there was a weird atmosphere to me. It was kind of like ‘wow, we’ve scored early against United…. But hold on this feels weird… this doesn’t feel like the other games at Goodison, this feels like they are going to come back’. Once we scored we didn’t even have another chance really.

I don’t think anyone is panicking yet but Newcastle then Palace, Fulham, Leicester, Bournemouth. If we don’t start having some shots then we might aswell forget it until after the World Cup.

I agree but we were that bad against Utd. They are average and we treated them like City.

We were just outplayed that day, it happens. That was the best Utd have played for weeks, they kept the ball surprisingly well after their humbling at city and they still have players all over the pitch (especially the forward positions) who would waltz into our starting 11. Spurs also have excellent forwards (their current third/fourth choice forward would be our first choice).

Can't wait for the Christmas 'show us your decs' thread lol
ON TOPIC
I think everybody can see that things are not a bad as last season.
There has been a definite improvement, just not as much, or as quick as some hoped for.
Anybody who was expecting European qualification this time, off the back of our worst ever season, is definitely deluded though.
I tried a show us your turkey one or something along those lines a couple of years ago. Never took off.

Put it this way

If we win against Newcastle (big "if" I know) then we're three points off the European places with Palace and Fulham to come next

Not the worst position we've ever been in

If we can somehow win those three games then we're just 21 points away from that illusive 40

Onwards and upwards Blues!
Allardyce beat Newcastle at their place so it can’t be that hard for super frank

Surely ….
