The reality of farage and his minders next go around the carousel here in the uk is a distinct probability.

And it's the overlooking or underestimating the importance of this ever growing section of society that the Democrats were guilty of and the main parties here and in Europe are too.

How do you re-engage them and show that you are working for them and not feathering the nest of some nefarious demonised other at their expense - well if they knew that then we wouldn't have a thread like this would we - or Brexit - or the AfD rising in Germany or NF in France etc.

It's a perfect storm (imperfect) of factors, the church doesn't have the control it used to, there isn't the fear of the law there once was, living standards have fallen drastically (see the banking crisis and no one held to account in 2008), successive governments have promised a return to sunlit uplands and streets paved with gold (entirely for themselves) whilst delivering a fatally wounded nhs & a collapse to all fours - rear in the air to russian interests. [edit: also the explosion of social media and the highlighting of the hyper wealthy and the ease at which some live at the cost of many others].
The great unwashed are pished off and angry, and when that is seized upon by powerful toxic self interest we find ourselves facing something we as a people stood up and fought and defeated some 80 years ago almost to the day. I watched the Simon Schama Auschwitz thing last week and the documentary after it. It's no accident this stuff is broadcast now. Transpose the Jewish community then with 'bloody foreigners' now, and the death spiral we find ourselves in moves in the obvious direction. It is a matter of time, only there is no escape to the american dream anymore.
