I know they can invoke article 25, if it has become crystal clear, and beyond a reasonable doubt, that the president is incapacitated and can't perform his duties.

Then the VP gets sworn in as president. Would the republicans do this, though? As is, they're scared to do anything that would contravene the line that Trump is making them all toe.
The current VP is just about as big an Idiot as trump, he's actually worse than trump at speaking to foreign leaders..

Yes, I wanted to add something to that effect into my post, but forgot.

JD Vance, Trump's little bearded minion, who wouldn't say 'boo!' without Trump's permission, as seen on full display in that heated exchange between Trump and Zelenskyy at that White House meeting. His tongue was so far up Trump's hoop, that I actually felt embarrassed for him. 🤦‍♂️

I was quite honest in saying this is a risk strategy from Trump, but to judge it on a longer-term timeline than merely 2 weeks. I'd say I'm more nuanced and honest on this topic than most on this thread.
'Risk strategy'... 😂

There's no real strategy from what I can see. Trump's currently engaged in a high stakes poker Texas hold 'em game with China, only he's holding rubbish cards and bluffing with his ridiculous tariff rates, while China hold all the real cards, and they've just upped the ante by increasing their tariffs.

And they're sitting back, smiling, patiently waiting for the right to call. They don't have to budge or do anything at all, but wait.

Yes, a lot of countries have expressed their intent to sit down at the table with Trump, and negotiate new tariff rates. But what happens when they get there, and Trump being the stubborn tit that we all know him to be like, refuses to come down to a reasonable rate from any of the original ones that he proposed, which we all know he's prone to doing, because he thinks he's playing 'hardball' AKA 'The Fart of The Deal' or whatever?

How many of those countries will say: 'You know what? Fck this asshole!' And take their business elsewhere?
And guess who'll be waiting to do business with them... 'The Red Dragon Awakens', so to speak...

So this 'risk strategy' that you're referring to, seems to be a 'strategy' of playing it fast and loose by taking a gambling on a bluff that might, or might not, pay off.

If Fox turns on POTUS it's bad news for him. But luckily for him they'll be back like an abused lover.

It really does shock me how stupid that entire country apparently is.

How is it a shock? If you don't know what tariffs actually are maybe you should learn.

All of this "I didn't know we paid the tariffs" just goes to show the average level of financial literacy and intelligence they're dealing with over there.

That's the 'borosilicate glass sippy cup' market destroyed then. Shame.

Scott Bessent was on TV saying Trump's tariffs of 20% on China in his first term resulted in a less than 1% price increase to the US consumer. If(and I realise that's a big if)accurate then these tariffs are not going to have huge impacts on consumers. If they have minimal impacts on consumers then importers can survive.

These are high risk moves from Trump. Let's see how they play out in a year or two. I encourage everyone to stop panicking in the meantime. And certainly pay little attention to business men and women posting on instagram who have barely felt the consequences yet of these tariffs.

Where were you folk when people were losing well paid manufacturing jobs because of NAFTA or being fired enough masse for not taking a vaccine?
Why wait a year or two when he's already caused the stock market to lose a year's worth of gains in a week?

What is going to fix this situation in a year or two in your opinion?

Do you genuinely believe that this is going to lead to onshoring manufacturing facilities?

Fat chance that happens in this two year time frame especially when the economy has just been tanked by these policies. What do you think is about to happen to the price of capital needed to fund those factories?

As for "where were you folk when people were losing well paid manufacturing jobs because of NAFTA or being fired enough masse for not taking a vaccine"

Ummm we were going about our business. The government didn't force those companies out of America. They chose to abandon America for increased profits and shareholder wealth. The US government also didn't force any company to fire anyone over a vaccine. What utter strawman nonsense.

He's making all of you MAGA cultists look thick as.

Only the Fox News watchers, mate

This is good on the EU's options...

TLDR: They have quite a few "cards" to play if they wish...

😂😂 Texas hold 'em!

Damn, that's the analogy I just used. Seems to be a good one.

Mad that nobody from the democratic side has stood up to be counted. Cory aside? trump campaigned practically none stop for 8 years to flood the voters minds.

I agree Bernie seems to be permanently on the road, I am not American so I don’t know how well received he is. But I enjoy watching him talk. AOC seems to be on right side of things but sadly the wrong gender for a country who is hates progressive politics.
Bernie is too northeastern, too Jewish and too "socialist" in the American political sense to win a national election.

It shouldn't be the case, but it's the truth

Yes and no mate.

Even our Maple MAGA up here understood we were in for a rough time when our largest trading partner decided to imposes tariffs on us.

You lot have been dealing with many more countries and nobody was ringing the alarm bells while it was just Canada.

Now that it's the EU and China people are waking up and understanding this is going to impact them as well.

It's that cognitive dissonance. He's been telling everyone he was gonna do this for months. Why the big shock about it now?
