Captain Fellaini

He shouldnt be a useless footballer either, Nev reminds me of my junior football days were the managers son got made captain, it was pointless. but when a Roy Keane or Big Dunc leads a team out it can have an effect, both on the captain and the team.

I think he'd make a superb captain if his English is decent now. Going out dressed as him round Lincoln tonight.

Sure, I wouldn't have a problem with it.

However, Neville will most likely be playing right back. So there's no issue

Something I was discussing at work today which is related to Fellaini.

He is currently the highest paid player at the club, earning 70k a week if reports are true.

Now forgive me if I have understood this wrong but, with British income tax laws, I believe he would be earning this figure after deductions, which for a footballer in the Premier League, is about 40%? (I recently read an article that suggested deductions on the salaries of La Liga players will be come close to an even keel with England's top players soon, and that the lowest tax deductions are in Russia which could cause an influx of foreign stars to the Russian Leagues.)

Anyway, wouldn't this mean we are actually forking out a lot more than 70k a week for Fellaini (or any other player's wage for that matter) if their agreed contractual earnings after tax are set at a certain amount?

Are they after tax though?

I believe its pre-tax, although smart players apparently send their pre-tax money off-shore and then bring it back at a lower tax rate, exploiting some tax loophole

The only Felli thread i could find!

Rumor is on SSN website that he is on his way to Juventus for £18.25m. I personally think that this is ball-locks but with Gibson being brought in, i could see the board allowing this to happen to cover this years costs.

(i am currently on my knees praying to god for this not to happen!)
