Looks like we have the next PPI.

I heard about this months back and that claims management companies were popping up similar to how the PPI scenario started. The Financial Ombudsman Service has ruled in favour of 2 people in their claims against car finance companies and now the FCA are reviewing if there has been widespread misconduct.

MartinLewis seldom gets it wrong - I got a 1/3 of my house insurance with the very same firm that sent me my renewal using his money saving, com comparison website - he should run the country imo

Sent both my emails of just now. I had enquired with both finance companies months back if there was discretionary commission involved in my finance. One said no and the other never replied.

Expecting nothing but any money from this would be a bonus.

With interest rates up its a racket for sure. They also quote APR's as most of us buy cars over 3 or 4 years. APR's are typically 13% or 14% so they ask you how much you can afford monthly. Over 3 or 4 years you pay half the value of the car again in interest and guess who does well out of that? No thanks. Borrow off the bank if you can.

Santander just replied saying;

We can confirm that a DCA was in place between us and the credit broker relating to your finance agreement

... so it's looking good for Christmas 2024.
