car trouble

The best my mate can come up with is that there may be a pinhead sized hole in the rad which justs leaks slightly when switched off but leaks significantly more under pressure once the water heats up. Very difficult to detect but if the pressure tester is left on for a few more minutes, they would be able to spot the very slight drop in pressure.

misunderstood the type of car, I was refering to the REALLY old cinquecento, the one that has inspired the new retro model that's just come out now - hence the ref to engine at the rear. Soz!

Good luck!

When my water pump started to go bad it slowly leaked fluid and I would have to refill it every month until the pump finally died. You might want to get that checked out.

tiny hole in the rad. Split pipe. But i think maybe a poorly sealed gasket on the water pump. Throw in some radweld either way. Amazing stuff.

That is harder on the engine than 100k of motorway driving.

While not directly helping your leaking problem, sounds like a manual controlled fan wouldn't go amiss here. Allow you to get the rad fan on while in traffic and stop it heating up too much.

i have a trick to combat the heating up in static traffic. we put the heater on in the car and it settles the engine heat down.

it was the radiator in the end. cost us £100 - parts and labour , which wasnt bad (heard it could cost £180) .
its funny how the more expensive garage completely missed the radiator but changed the water pump. (if anything the leak was worse after seeing them)

£290 in a week to fix a bloody leak ?????!!!!!!!(n)thank god petrol has gone down.(94 p at our local(y))

thanks for the help peeps:)
