Carlo Ancelotti Appointed Everton Manager

Exactly.

And I say that starts by sweeping clean behind the first team scene. Get shut of the 'make do' mentality and jobs for the boys who keep quiet and dont rock the boat. Yes the players need replacing (and those capabale retained), but we need the coaching staff replaced totally.

That Fergsuon is making a big song and dance out of 'doing enough' to stick around as an assistant is horrifying.

Someone should let him know about your tinfoil hat theorems.

‘Carlo, Carlo, @davek thinks there are a number of passive aggressive cliques in the staff and the team squad - we need a clean out ASAP’

‘chi è Davek e perché dovrei fregarmene di una sua opinione?’

‘but Carlo, Carlo, he has AT LEAST 4 other people who agree with him’

‘mio dio - cancella immediatamente finch farm.’

Merry Xmas Dave xx

Ferguson leavin? That's not going to happen though. Personally I'd purge anyone or anything that has been associated with Everton for the last thirty years. I thought Harvey was a mistake. What a player and a man, as a caveat. Re-appointing Kendall another.

Popularity, who cares. Win. Win and win again. You're only as good as your last game.

I'm not big on sentimentality. I want winners and I really don't care were they come from. If Ancelotti keeps on Ebbrell, Jeffers, that's red flags for me. Just like when Moshiri kept on Kenwright. But tis the season of goodwill and Ancelotti is our manager...But he has to stuff it to them. Neither Kenwright or Moshiri know the first thing about football.

If this guy can't sort out the mess no-one will. But yeah, the pitiful signings, who masquerade as important players, it comes down to Brands. Just like Walsh before him. They're both woeful. They'll be a gradual clear out under Ancelotti.

Why Ancelotti would keep Ferguson? It's sentimentally and nothing else.
Rather this was Walsh - Brands has had good signings so far, but we've been unlucky with injuries.

He'll know what's what. A world class manager will be looking at not only players but the people coaching them. He'll figure out who the no marks and bluff merchants are in an instant.

So I've been admonished for using a certain word regarding Nicholas's comments yesterday.

Being long in the tooth, all I will say is that word, in my youth, meant fool, idiot, clown, and other such gentle put-downs. It would appear a different construction is placed on it nowadays...

Had I wished to be nasty, I would have used other, stronger, words.

That's my explanation. That's all.

Don't sweat it mate. Most of us our scousers and don't care. And by and large a forgiving bunch, be respectful and tolerant and we'll all get along. It's a family site, sometimes our passions get the best of us. (pointing the finger at meself..) Anyway, what's your take on Ancelotti?

You quilt - Way too soft on this beaut.

(Lol. Joke)

Yes.

They wanted the galoot to stay on because they knew it wouldn't get too technical. The truth is that these players are mentally weak as well as medicore talent-wise. The scouting on them was poor and we ended up with players cast off from other clubs - no doubt due in large part to the fact they dont take instruction well.

In short: this club has seen Koeman and Brands waste over £400M on players that Ancelotti now has to get shut of and bring his own intelligent players in to replace.
I think Koeman and Walsh rather than Brands are culpable for probably the most inept recruitment we have witnessed in our clubs history, although Brands did look like he was out of his depth when it became apparent that Zouma wasn't coming and he failed to replace Lukaku.
The players now have nowhere to go with regard to downing tools because nobody can argue with Ancelotti's credentials as a manager, the next twelve months will be interesting to say the least.
More than anything else though I hope that our record against the RS improves and I think that under Ancelotti it will.

Its going to be really fascinating to see what he can do to get the best out of the players.

I dont think we have a great squad, a few nuggets, but many who have cost more then they contributed, its going to be interesting to see if he can get the best out of a few.

Tactically you would expect us to shore up and at least stop conceding set pieces. I think you will see an improvement defensively, he doesn't take unnecessary risks playing out form the back and we may look far more solid not going zonal.

The big problem of course and seems like ages is a cutting edge, flakey and panicky up front, laboured and hit and hope up front, hopefully he can build confidence up there and the line behind.

We could do with a bit of luck from injury gods as well.

The Koeman and Brands buying have a common denominator: throwing big money at players with over-inflated reputations. Brands' major drawback though is his cursory consideration of a player's injury record or current fitness status. He' literally cost Everton tens of millions with that buffoonery.

As others have said on the forum, if he can get rid of the 'deadwood' and attract quality players given his previous success and reputation, then I believe he will do very well. What we have seen in recent times is what older members such as myself saw in the late-'70s/early-'80s before Kendall raised us to such glorious heights. Never mind all the naysayers in the media (and even on here!), it can be done again. Consolidation this season, moving forward next.
