Carlo Ancelotti suing Everton?!!

My thoughts exactly, players, managers, staff, everyone involved in the game just in for the coin now. Modern day football needs a reset and fast. The average working class man will walk away from this soon enough ..
He didn’t get his league/cup bonuses this season so must be skint.

Tbf look at the clubs Ancelotti has been employed at.

He’s used to dealing with professional ownership. While this nonsense is obviously par for the course for our inept board, he’s probably insulted by the way he’s been messed about and which is why he’s pursuing them.

Doesn't make much sense as we apparently let him go without any compensation fee so if he is suing us for money owed from his contract he is a cheeky sod.

But like we discuss in other threads (e.g. DCL etc) would anyone ever say to a company that lets them go, who owes them money 'Yeah ok keep the money I dont want it'. I know Ancelotti is rich, but even though he seemed to like Everton and enjoyed the club, it's not like it's his club he built or has any affiliation with us. Why should he give up his money

Stuffs just got real, Carlo smacks down the shysters on the board and they all resign quicker than boris johnson, can you hear that? that is the sound of petrifying fear. If he takes down the chairman with his own chair, can we nominate him for president for life?

We didn't let him go he left of his own volition its not like a company who fires someone without pay and then gets hauled before ACAS.

He had a waiver in his contract that meant he could leave for free if Real Madrid came in for him. Similarly it seems he's owed money that was promised to him in his contract.

We're clearly refusing to pay it so he's well in his right to sue.
It sounds like it might be worse than that to me. The use of the word 'commercial' in the filing implies to me that we offered him some sort of commercial growth or revenue split, maybe even something related to new stadium commercial growth, or possibly even club shares in the case of a share issuance (which happened not terribly long ago). It's definitely becoming more common to include those kinds of incentives in big deals attracting talent that wouldn't otherwise be interested, like Messi at Miami, or Mbappe's PSG contract. If the club never paid him any of that because we let him go but it's his position that his contract wording includes those perks as a guarantee he may be right and then it's another example of our board being nearly criminally incompetent. That's like Bartomeu level stupidity.

That was just my initial read, I obviously don't know what's going on either. But whatever it is it doesn't sound as simple as wages. It's got that special Everton Board flavor of stupid all over it.

The saddest thing about this whole affair to me is that some little part of my brain always clung onto the hope that one day he would return to Everton, saying that he hadn't given us the fair crack we deserved due to covid and without supporters it never felt right at the time.

File that from 1% possibility to in the bin forever.

We've had managers go against the owners previously. ;)

First impression: this looks like another dose of incompetence from our executive & board, because might have simply failed to live up to our end of the contract. Will be interesting to see what this is all about. Just because Carlo Ancelotti seems like a good man, doesn't mean he'll let go anything owed to him from a contract.

He had a cheek after he left us high and dry

If we owe him money, he’s entitled to try and get it, however long since he left - another light shone on the incompetence of the soon to be departed chairman and BoD.

No wonder don Carlo legged it out of good times fc the first chance he got.
It suggests that they have been in a dialogue since he left to come to a settlement and he’s had enough. If he is entitled to it contractually speaking then I don’t blame him
