Cant believe this thread is still going. Going to be a lot of disappointed fans when Bill announces Moyes for the rest of the season and Ancelotti ends up at a champions League club.

How do you know that Moyes is the only candidate capable of the task in the time frame available? 6 years have passed and this is a completely different club and a different set of players than when Moyes was here and he didn't exactly set the world on fire when he was here anyway. He has been sacked from 2 clubs and got relegated in another and has been out of work for 18 months because no club wants him. There is arguably more of a chance that we would get relegated with him in charge than move upwards.

It honestly boggles my mind how any Evertonian could want him back. It has to be more about sentimentality than common sense imo.

He needs to stay in the past and the best thing for the club for now and the future is a top class manager like this fella or the like.

The problem for any prospective candidate, especially one of the calibre of Ancelotti, is the squad of players available to him.
Irrespective of whether we’re perceived as a small club or not, they’re unlikely to get the style they want to play, from what’s available: they’re just not capable.

Okay perhaps one or two, but they’re either injury prone and/or inconsistent. That’s why you have to work to their strengths which is pressing, closing down, tight knit defence protected by defensive mids who can also play a bit when a chance presents itself (or perhaps not).

Our priority is to stop conceding, especially from the likes of Norwich, Brighton, Sheffield et al, and make it difficult for the big boys; home and away.

All the evidence shows that we’re not up to much more.

All I’m saying is, what’s available isn’t going to be attractive to the upper echelon of International managers, so we have to lower our sights.

Good idea, let's get another young manager in who wants to try out new formations, tactics and play out from the back.

Hate this idea of us being a project for young aspiring managers. It's all about the now. And right now we need someone who can go in and realise our current crop are limited and not good enough.

We a manager who will dig in and grind out points until the end of the season.

Ancelloti would be a fine choice
