Everton talks with Carlo Ancelotti continue as Farhad Moshiri looks to appoint new manager
Ancelotti has been locked in talks with Everton as they look to appoint the Italian as new boss
Everton were last night still working on a deal to make Carlo Ancelotti the club's new manager.
The Italian travelled to London for a meeting with majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri but following a day of discussions an agreement had not been finalised.
The 60-year-old, sacked by Napoli earlier this month, had intended to wait until the end of the season before pursuing a new job in management but is keen on taking the reins at Goodison.
But, in talks with Moshiri yesterday, he wanted reassurances over the type of squad he could expect to work with.
After holding initial talks last week, the former Chelsea and Real Madrid boss came to London yesterday for further discussions but work on his appointment will carry on into today.

"wanted reassurances over the type of squad he could expect to work with". Carlo probably planning on selling 75% of the squad in his first transfer window

The media loves to sensationalise every little detail. It’s a multi million contract, it’ll take more than one sit down.

Problem the club have now is it’s out there, we all know it, they know we know it, and they also know the fans’ reaction to it. They’ve probably got themselves in to a situation where it’s too late to back away now and will probably have to promise Ancelotti funds that they wouldn’t normally have been comfortable with?

I could be wrong of course, but I’m sure they’ll feel they’ve been backed in to a corner and fear a fans’ backlash if we now pull out and hire someone else that the fans aren’t happy with.

One thing this will certainly do though, is rule out Moyes completely. There’s no way they’d go to tantalising the fans with Ancelotti, only to then throw David Moyes in to the hot seat.

I think the thing to remember is this squad has talent in it. It’s unbalanced and we’re suffering from the worst injury crisis I can remember but when everyone’s fit he’s got good options. He doesn’t need to completely revamp the whole squad but he does need 2-3 quality additions. I imagine that’s what he’s looking for guarantees on.
You spot on too... if this doesn’t happen for whatever reason, whatever the club do it’ll be a disappointment to us fans and seen as a foolish attempt and failure by the RS media (they’ve already started based on Dominic Kings last 2 articles)... so club need to pull this off
