2019/20 Carlo Ancelotti

A lot of people are saying he is now realising the extent of the task he has in front of him.

We’re talking about a world class manager here who has forgotten more about football than most of us will ever know.

He knew the scope of the task when he signed up and he must have been up for the challenge.

I don’t believe he would risk damaging his reputation by going along for the ride. He will have been promised funds and backing. I think his heart will be in it so long as the owners come good on this.
World class absolutely. But at a particular job, which is taking something very good and making it outstanding.

So not sure his skillset is a great match for what we need currently, which is basically a rebuild from nothing.

According to Alan Myers he was fuming yesterday and gave a number of players an ear bashing and waving his arms about, I think he was very frustrated at the end, time will tell over the coming weeks months how motivated he is, but one thing I can say is he is our one positive at the moment and it is something we should embrace

Joyce quotes Ancelotti as saying after the match:

“I normally do not speak to players after a game. I will today”

Not sure on which thread to put this but I'll shove it on here.
As much as I dislike Klippity he is a charismatic character.
Everyone looks up to him like little puppies to its owner, wanting to please him and not wishing to let him down. It plainly shows everytime they play when they look to him to pat them on the head and give them a hug.
They are so in awe that they will give their soul to be with him and be loved by him. It's like he's a favourite uncle, big brother and Dad all rolled into one and they don't want to upset him so they leave nowt on the pitch.
It's a rare commodity and I can only pray that Carlo can generate that same feeling but I'm afraid he will be what 99% of managers are, just that, managers. He will succeed or he won't but I suspect he will never generate or replicate that same adoration which seems to permeate throughout the RS currently.
And I'm so 'kin envious that's how bad I feel about my beloved Club.
As good a manager klopp is, his record pales into insignificance compared with Ancelotti’s. Shankly was charismatic, but Paisley was the polar opposite a bit like Ancelotti and Klopp. There is more then one way to be a successful man to man manager in football.

The reason he’s never had to do rebuild jobs before us because he’s had the pick of the best squads in the world, he’s that good.

This marks a change in his career and a new challenge - I’m sure he’s capable of using all his experience to adapt.

Personally I would have liked Big Dunc to have had a longer caretaker tenure.

Why?

He was a good short term solution for a bit of fighting spirit in the first 2 games, then we looked utterly bereft of any passion and back to our usual selves when we played Arsenal.

Big Duncs decision making was also horrible - he brought on Kean and subbed him off in one game, then did the same with Tosun the next match.

It will certainly be fascinating to watch as an experiment. But I'd have preferred someone with the experience we need rather than taking the gamble. Again.

After all, you don't get the interior designers in to lay the foundations of your new house.

I just hope Carlo is good at digging out and digging in.

When we had Stones, Barkley and Lukaku around 2014/15 we would have bent over backwards as fans, to keep them. This lot of players....if one of them were to be sold this window I would just shrug my shoulders. The only exception probably being Dom but it would not be as bad as it was when we had managers sniffing round those 3.

I'm confident the Derby would have been a different game with him in charge.

He arguably extracted more from that group of players and we've now plumbed new depths I didn't even think imaginable as an Everton fan (and I guess that's saying something).

I'd like for him to start moving to the formation he intends to play going forward soon. I'm hoping it isn't 4-4-2. Start building for the future now.

I'm worried that if results go south over the next month he's not capable of motivating this side enough to get us out of trouble

He's used to winning titles and playing in cup finals, not scrapping down the bottom of the league for wins

After yesterdays performance you have to wonder how this side will perform in the league against tough teams like Brighton
