The premier league he won is very different today as the table shows...it was much easier then for the top teams to be towards the top of the table. Not so easy now as the competition has closed the gap considerably. Today the premier league is the most competitive league in the world.

If it is indeed the “most competitive league in the world” it is only because of the sheer dross that makes up the vast majorly of teams in it.

It certainly ain’t “competitive“ at the top of the table.

The “top teams” today have, in fact, never had it so easy.

We are only in January and already it would take snookers for the RS to lose it.

Ditto two years ago when City were in the same position in January.

That never used to happen up until recently.

And in between there was last season when both those clubs finished miles clear of the third placed team.

That is now three years on the trot that the RS, City or both have had no one challenging them at the top.

When Carlo won it he did so when the best manager English football has ever seen was still in Title winning mode.

And Wenger’s Arsenal were still a major threat.

Winning the PL in 2010 was no less difficult than it is in 2020.

The team at the top have only dropped 2 points all season and the rest of the league are just pure jarg. Competitive doesn't mean good. This season has brought with it some of the lowest quality top division football I have seen in my life.
The 2 teams at the top are the 2 best team in world football right now whether we like or not...english teams have been increasingly successful in europe in last few years proves that the league has been very competitive.

What liverpool and city have done in the last couple of years is special. Others team will catch up eventually and that will again lift the level in the league even further. Even the England national team is starting to see the benefits.

You might have a case in the the RS are one of the two best teams in the world right now.

There is no way one can say that with any certainty about City.

They have regressed massively this season.

They have been massively impacted with key injuries early in the season. Wait until champions league resume...they'll be back. They know the season is over for the premier league...they will now focus on the cups and they will probably end up winning them all.

So you are admitting that the “top teams” have it easier these days.

That it was actually harder for Carlo to win the Title than it has been for Pep and Klopp over the past few years on account of their being greater strength in depth throughout the league then.

For goodness sake even Everton were regularly in the fight for CL places a decade ago.

Top teams do not have an easier time...on the contrary...just that liverpool and city are at a level that you might not see again for a very long time...everton was fighting for cl places yes...with barely any money to spend. Then it would have been impossible to even keep a good player like richarlison for more than a season...now we can compete with the likes of Chelsea and arsenal for signings...

Maybe the league is on a down turn this year with the likes of Utd, Arsenal, Chelsea and to a lesser extent us (again) and Spurs all undergoing transitional periods. We will be able to see how much of a down turn when Champions League kicks in again soon. However, you cannot deny what City have done over the previous two seasons (arguably illegally) and what the RS have done over the last two is nothing bit extraordinary. The latter have won 94 out of the last 96 pts in the league ffs.........a league dont forget that last season set a record for filling all four final spots in Europe.

City aside mate I don’t think any other club has our resources now, with usmanov etc. Ancelotti knows this, and hence he’s come as it’s a different type of job for now, but I’m sure he will change us completely

That was in 2018. Look at the gap down to us. That's where financial fair play comes in and cripples our ability to out spend even if we have the money.
