The sad part is, that it really was so long ago. TOO long. The first priority for Carlo is to sort the defence out, and this he is doing. If the right purchases are made, and Carlo is the very man to attract them, then progress to the entire style of play is more than a just a probability.

One of the biggest obstacles in getting us competing at the top is mentality.

Playing without full crowd's for the rest of this and most of next season could be of real aid to us with our current squad. It affords Ancelotti to get us playing competitive games how he wants without added pressure or intimidation. I'm made up with his appointment but if fans see us getting results (sometimes ugly) it builds faith. Goodbye to 'Everton That' hopefully.

I want us to win every game but if we happen to miss out on European football for next season I won't be disappointed on this occasion. I don't think it will be particularly rewarding and with the top 7 playing 2 games per week for the majority of the season it opens up a wonderful opportunity for a well organised side.

A couple of quality additions to the side with this manager and we're on the up and up.

I couldn’t care less how we win games. If ‘turning Italian’ is something to be sneered at then they can sneer all they want.

Ancelotti will know the strengths and weaknesses of his squad. We are more likely to be compact and soak up pressure against the bigger clubs, but against the lower clubs he will let us attack more.
