I've been reading his book and it sounds like we are in a similar position to when he first took over AC Milan. He talks about how it was a family club, but the quality just wasn't there when he first joined. He signed Seedort and Nesta and over time built the team around them, wonder if he will make one or two signings like this in our transfer window.

He also talks about how important it is to have a preseason with the players in his first season at a club, rip up the tactics and start from scratch.

I think this is spot on, I dont think there will be any sort of scatter-gun approach here. It will be quality signings & one or two only. Surely at this stage he has to prioritise a keeper above anything else and someone to lead the team, there is quality in the squad, but the attitude and consistency levels stink. A solid CM, who makes his debut as captain and leads by example is key for transforming talent in this squad into consistent performances.

It must be so frustrating for Carlo to pick a team and have absolutely no understanding of the level of performance he can currently expect.

I mean don't get me wrong, I get that Pickford has been well below par this season, but there's a bare minimum of 2, possibly 3 or 4 positions that need attention before we even think about the goalkeeper.

I see it completely the other way. In no position are we weaker and no position causes as much damage to the overall team, directly and indirectly.

A real goalkeeper, should settle the back 4, a more settled back 4 allows your midfield to control a game far more and the knock on of that is more attacking agression. A real Goalkeeper should be a 15 goal swing in goals conceded as well

I fully understand there are a lot of problems, but Pickford is the foundations of the house & he has termites & needs to be removed before any other work gets done

There's plenty managers out there if you give them the funds, they'll give you a winning team.

I can think of two or three who couldn't.

I happen to believe that, these days, it's virtually impossible to get real, tangible pot winning success without dosh. Not impossible, granted. But vanishingly small.

Pickford won't be willingly sold. It's just not going to happen.

Yeah, they only had donkeys like Shevchenko, Maldini, Rui Costa, Gattuso and Pirlo. Thank goodness Carlo was there to dig the five-time European champions out of a hole lol

Just one those would do us a world of good.

I'd have Maldini, we wouldn't lose many games and we can just play (Wimbledon) long ball, completely bypassing our midfield.

Imagine the feedback on Tom Davies if he were stood next to half of GOT?

I would be really really surprised if the players are not ghosting around on social media to see what we think of them! I'm sure it also contributes to their mood and morale
Anyway, I can imagine Davide scrolling around and reporting to Mr Fantastico and finding out. really makes me extra excited to think of the book about his early days at AC Milan. Hoping and praying for better times ahead (Just got my 2 y o daughter into Everton and really don't want to ruin her life as well)
