You play Hamez at 10 or at a push centrally in the quarterback role or you leave him in Madrid.

The fullbacks will provide the width.

We have 2 Widers in the whole squad, it suits us to bin off widers IMO.
You know over half his career starts are in wide positions don’t you? Ideally he plays the #10 but I quite like the idea of him cutting in onto his left foot and scoring blammos. I also am still scarred from the last time we tried to get rid of our wingers with Koeman. Don’t like that set up one bit.

Yeah but if he plays right of a front 3 then he will tuck inside. The full backs would still provide the width.

He could play wide right, 10 or more traditional midfield roles. He would be better than what we have in any of those.

I think we’ll see a permutation this:

albeit slightly wider up front. Transition to 442 off the ball. AncelottI had been successful with this (Or at least a permutation of this) across a few teams.

Purely based on the players we’ve been linked to.

Carlo had a dream :

Pickford
RB - Keggers - Mina - Digne
Gomes
Allan - Donkeree
Hamez
DCL - Rico

Looking at Carlo's Milan teams I'm pretty sure you're right about wingers. They're going in the bin.

Makes sense with Hamez, Bernard, Iwobi and even Sigi in the squad.

I think Iwobi, Bernard and Sigi may actually look half decent being played in a formation that suits them. Wouldn't be surprised if we went one up top and two roaming behind at times.

Either way, I think we're departing from a standard 4-4-2, and as promised by Mr. Ancelotti we'll be much more competitive.

I think Bernie and Walcott are the only wingers in the squad.

Of course other players can play there, but I think even Gordon is better centrally, Walcott can play up top and Bernie might be punted, but he could possibly play as 10.

Hell we might start getting some proper links to Wingers soon so the whole theory goes in the bin, but in January Brands said a Right Winger would be our main target, I suppose Hamez could be it.

Very interested to see what happens, but Carlo does what he wants, he's never had a real set formation, he changes it on a whim.

Yeah, I think with each of our 'wide' players arguments could be made that they're not fully suitable out wide. Walcott being the most suited obviously, but even he loves a little run inside.

Definitely interesting times ahead. Perfect time for Carlo to deliver the ultimate popcorn with a 4-2-3-1 slugs of war abomination. Sigi and Davies patrolling the wings. Clogging the arteries of the PL one game at a time.

If Davies is involved clogging is the word

Pickford (lossl back up)
Dalot/Arias (coleman back up)
Keane (Mina back up)
Holgate (Branthwaite back up)
Digne (Nkoukou back up)
Allan (Gbamin back up)
Gomes (Davies back up)
Doucoure (Iwobi/Sigurdsson back up)
Rodríguez (Bernard back up)
Richarlison (Walcott back up)
Calvert-Lewin (Kean back up)

Makes for a strong x11 with some decent stands in - and I’ve excluded the likes of Bolasie, Tosun, Sandro etc as you’d suspect their on their way out).
