2020/21 Carlo Ancelotti

The home record is not good enough but I blame our players and not the manager. So many individual errors out there today. These players are overhyped and overrated and dont work hard enough.
That’s the frustrating part, last season it was the away form, this season it’s the home, we need to find that consistent blend

I don’t even know what his style of play is or what it’s meant to be ,hanging on in every game we lead ,and watching the same pattern roll on every home game, all il say is if his name wasn’t Carlo Ancelotti he’d be getting absolute pelters,I wouldn’t mind if I could see what he’s trying to do ,it seems to be made up as we go along game by game
Hang on, you've sort of contradicted yourself there, not saying I disagree, but same pattern and made up as we go along, not sure you can have both.

It comes down to whether you believe Ancelotti is instructing the team to drop deep and try to protect a lead when all the evidence suggests we're not very good at that or if the players can't help themselves but drop deeper as a kind of hardwired instinct that is hard to coach them out of.

I'll try not to bore you, but I watched the "All or Nothing" Netflix thing on Spurs and all week Mourinho is preparing them for a match and he keeps getting in their ears about not dropping deep.

They lead at half time, he gets into them about cutting out the mistakes and not dropping deep. They drop deep, concede some comedy goals and lose.

I understand the frustration, but I'm not sure how much Ancelotti can do with some of them.

For such an esteemed manager and with the players at his disposal, I'm almost speechless when I see how he's been unable to rectify our problems at home. We look pathetic.

The squad is thin, injuries to key players have wrecked this season, Allan, James, Decoure, Coleman, and Digne in particular. We are still on the fringes of Europe for next season and most teams are a bit flakey. Another * season. Finish it, forget it. Hopefully we can get into Europe for next season.

While we haven't been absolutely poor, we haven't been great at times this season. I agree sometimes I don't understand his tactics but I trust him to know what he's doing, maybe his tactics are easy for top players to understand but apart from a few players, we don't have that profile of player here. He's only had 3 transfer windows and we know what our director of football thinks of winter windows. He's improved us a bit but I think we'll be looking at the 22-23 season before we see a team which is made up of what he wants from a side, rather than finding quality from previous reigns.

I’ve been reading all of the posts in here for weeks after games and I hate to be in the minority here but @GwladysBlue makes a lot of good points

I was happy when we appointed Carlo because of his past triumphs but was also a little sceptical about how he would get a tune out of our players

it’s fine winning trophies with talented Milan, Chelsea and PSG squads but I just don’t see him ever getting that kind of team here.

He’s a pragmatic coach and a good one at that. But like Mourinho, I feel the game has passed them by. I’d love to see a progressive, modern coach in charge with an identity - from week to week our football is so unpredictable.

Managers, like players, have upwards trends and then get worse as they get older, apart from freaks of nature like Alex Ferguson but even then, he brought in assistants to update him on modern day tactics like Carlos Queiroz.

Our football is dreadful at times and it looks so dated. Look at how well Moyes is doing with his squad, their football is better than ours and it’s a consistent style.

it’s very telling that Carlo has gone from the big plum jobs like Milan and Chelsea, then to a one-horse race league and then Napoli / Everton. I just don’t think he’s the manager he was, far from it.

This is what pees me off, some of the excuses given are shocking.

Leicester won the league with Wes Morgan, Christian Fuchs, Danny Simpson and Robert Huth.

Blaming a lack of resource is just an easy pass for managers.
hello buddy thank u for choosing anomaly i think this is v wise choice.

Carlo needs to take a little blame here, Ricky came out too pumped up hacking and slashing at stuff without composure, DCL too chilled - needed taking off and should of been subbed
